An incredible piece of early American glass! In a uniquely Boston and sandwich color comes this impressive 10.25 inch tall by 5.5 inch diameter blown and pressed glass wig stand! The Circa 1850 piece of folk art glass came from the collection of noted Kennebunk, Maine glass collector, Richard Hennessy. A hand blown plum amethyst which ball is attached by annealing to a pressed clear glass pedestal base. The base exhibit a couple of edge flakes, but those do not detract from the classic federal appearance of the plum ball on pedestal. A most unusual piece in that it was made long after both witch balls and wigs ceased to be common place. Buyer to pay $32.95 insured priority shipping within the US or 3 pounds priority international.
