Books are firstly wrapped in strong protective bubble wrap before being mailedin a bespoke card book mailer, for the majority of books. Large volumes and sets will be mailed in very strong hand cut cardboxes. Being a bibliophile myself I completely understand what a precious item a book is, and I understand therefore how to handle a book carefully and treat it withthe reverence it deserves.

The postage charge I quote always reflects the genuine cost of posting & packaging the book. The heavier the book, the higher the charge. I usually quote prices forthe standard service available, i.e. Second Class / Standard Parcel for the UK, Airmail for the Rest of the World. I can offer other services such as Recorded vendu &Insured deliveries, and usually do so as a matter of course for books of higher value. Please e-mail me if you have any special postagerequirements and I will do my best to accomodate your needs.

Payment

My preferred method of payment is Paypal, and Paypal is the only method of payment I will accept from buyers who are notresident in the United Kingdom (i.e. not resident in England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland).

From UK buyers only I will also accept Personal Cheques and Postal Orders. If paying by either of thesemethods your package will take a little longer to reach you as it will be despatched only when funds clear.

Returns Policy

I aim to make my listings as clear as possible, with comprehensive condition descriptions and clear photographs. If anything in my condition ratings I will tend todown rate a book rather than run the risk of being misleading. However I do accept that, on the rare occasion, a customer will not be satisfied for whatever reason andwill want to return a book for a refund. I am happy to accept returns, within the reasonable conditions stated below. I am always happy to communicate with customersto resolve any problem, so please do not hesitate to contact me for clarification on any point, or to resolve any issue.

Returns will be accepted within 30 days from the day the item is delivered to the customer.

The item must be returned in the condition in which it was received, therefore should be adequately packaged.

The buyer will bear the cost of the return posting and packing.

If the above criteria are met, a full refund will be made of the original cost of the item, but not of the original postage charge.

If the item is found to be, upon delivery to the customer, defective, then a full refund including the original postage cost will be offered. The customer will remain responsible for the cost of returning the item.

Definitions of the Condition of a Book

Aa a reputable online book seller, I use the Independent Online Booksellers Association guidelines on how to describe a books condition. Below is an explanation ofeach rating.

MINT (M): Without faults or defects, unread, in the same immaculate condition in which it was published (Note: very few newbooks qualify for this grade, as many times there will be rubs/scuffs to the dustjackets from shipping, or bumped lower spine ends/corners from shelving).

FINE (F): Approaches the above, but not crisp. May have been carefully read and dustjacket may have been slightly rubbed or spine ends slightly bumped fromshelving/shipping, but no real defects or faults.

(NOTE: From here on, there may be + and - in a grade, which will mean that it is above the grade noted but not quite to the next higher grade for +, and that itis below the grade noted but not quite to the next lower grade for -.

NEAR FINE: A book or dustjacket approaching FINE but with a couple of very minordefects or faults.

VERY GOOD: A used book showing some small signs of wear on either binding or dustjacket. Any defects/faults must be noted.

GOOD: The average used and worn book that has all pages or leaves present. Any defects must be noted.

FAIR: A worn book that has complete text pages (including those with maps or plates) but may lack endpapers, half-title page, etc. (which must be noted).Binding, dustjacket, etc. may also be worn. All defects/faults must be noted.

POOR / READING COPY: A book that is sufficiently worn that its only merit is the complete text, which must be legible. Any missing maps or plates should stillbe noted. May be soiled, scuffed, stained, or spotted, and may have loose joints, hinges, pages, etc.

EX-LIBRARY: Will always be designated as such no matter what the condition of the book.

BOOK CLUB: Will always be noted as such no matter what the condition of the book.

BINDING COPY: A book in which the pages or leaves are perfect but the binding is very bad, loose, off, or non-existent.

Always, if issued with one, the lack of a dustjacket or slipcase will be noted.
